Press Release – Robots are Assisting St Monica Trust in Their Cleaning Routines

Bristol-based charity, the St Monica Trust are using robotic vacuums in the communal areas of their luxury retirement village, The Chocolate Quarter in Keynsham.

The robots are supplied by The Perfect Little Company, an Oxfordshire based business that has developed a simple but effective system for managing multiple robots. The robotic vacuums (called Abbees) come in sets of 10 housed in a Hive, perfect for large scale commercial cleaning. The Hive is a trolley ideal for transportation, storage and easy charging.

The St Monica Trust is nationally recognised for the quality of the accommodation and care they provide at their retirement villages across Bristol and North Somerset.

Their newest development, The Chocolate Quarter has set new standards for luxury retirement living, which has resulted in the Trust looking for an even higher standard of cleaning that would be beneficial, cost effective, and most importantly, work with their residents.

Paul Gould, Head of Facilities at the St Monica Trust comments “We use the Abbees to vacuum the lengthy corridors and communal areas within our independent living section in The Chocolate Quarter. The team set the Abbees off during the night and collect them before the morning activities begin. This ensures no disruption to our residents as the Abbees are substantially quieter than a regular vacuum and we are finding it favourable to having trailing cables from the old traditional equipment”.

Karen Hedderwick, Catering and Housekeeping Team Leader commented “Our residents’ safety is incredibly important to us. The Abbees help us to vacuum a large area to a high standard during the quietest times within the home. If residents do come out into the lit corridors the Abbees are a fantastic bright colour and their Infared ensures they do not bump into any feet”.

Michael Richardson, Managing Director of The Perfect Little Company (TPLC) said “We’re incredibly pleased that our patented Hive system has found a beneficial home at The Chocolate Quarter. The robots are incredibly versatile and often have additional benefits in premises like this such as increasing safety, further improving standards and creating minimum disturbance to its residents”.

TPLC also provide robotic commercial cleaning solutions to other large organisations such as the BBC, Birmingham Airport, Pinewood Studios and Vodafone. Many commercial cleaning companies and schools are also reaping the benefits of using robotics in their commercial cleaning regime.
